Double knitting is the art of working two fabrics into one. I feel like this technique perfectly captures my identity. American, yet Egyptian. Traditional, yet modern. Fulfilled, yet broke. In many ways, my life has been spent metaphorically trying to knit up a double-knit piece. This is the story of how the fabrics finally started coming together.

One day, our manager at Purl Soho told us we needed to sell more patterns and DIY kits. We were instructed to model the samples to show the customers how they would look on an actual person. Little did I know, this was the day I’d meet Katie Holmes.

This is the story of my time working at Purl Soho. Overall, it was a wonderful experience. I learned and grew quite a bit. My old shipmates wished me fair winds and following seas when I left the Navy. Turns out I was chasing fair knits and following purls.
